Tired Momma

Calling all tired Mommas out there. I don’t know what it is, but I can never get enough sleep. I could literally sleep all night; I mean a good solid night’s sleep and still be tired the next day and ready for a nap after work. The norm for an adult is roughly 7-8 hours of quality sleep during the night. I honestly need about 10-12 hours minimum to function properly. It might be genetics, but because I’m as healthy as a horse when it comes to my vitals and blood panel check-ups, I have no clue as to why I’m always so damn tired.

Of course, I research and read online articles concerning sleep schedule normalcy and women’s sleep patterns to compare. Diagnoses can range from individual preference to major health concerns. One thing that gets me is the judgment from others. It is often more tiring clarifying to them than anything else. Why do I feel so much pressure to justify why I’m tired or if I’m napping during the day. As for me, I feel it’s okay to skip weeknight functions or even a weekend activity to rest up. Everyone has different needs and sleep arrangements that shouldn’t need to continually be defended.
Since I am a single Mommy, I have a lot of responsibility on my shoulders because I do everything alone. I have things on my mind that take a lot of time and energy which drains my battery and needs to be recharged frequently to be the best person, friend, coworker, partner and mother I need to feel my best mentally and emotionally. Getting enough sleep is so vital to living a joyful and nourishing life. No judgement here tired Momma, I understand and won’t ever make you feel guilty for snuggling in and getting that much needed reset. After all, I love my “napping house”.
